Buffalo Dick’s Radio Ranch

I get a lot of e-mails from people who used to listen to Buffalo Dick years ago.  It’s incredibly flattering that they first, remember then second, actually take time to google me.  The show was a riot to make and a lot of people had fun listening too.   Because Buffalo Dick would tell the kids, “It’s time for Mom and Dad to leave the room cuz you’re old pal Buffalo Dick is on the air,” the kids felt like they were getting away with something.  The parents were listening because the format of the show reminded them of show’s we would listen to, or watch, when we were kids (only not quite as edgy).   Either way, the show seemed to work for a large, diverse audience.

The show was successful due to the clever and funny writing of my brother, Bob Lamb, and in the beginning, with the voice help of Rob Paulsen.  Rob gave us “Uncle Max,” “Nick Slick,” “Big Jim Little” and “Thomas with a T.”  He left to see how he would do in Hollywood and he did VERY well.  Rob became the voice of many of the great cartoons.  “Yako” of the Animaniacs; “Pinky” of Pinky & the Brain; He was two of the “Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and dozens more.

That it even got on the air was due to the vision of Peter C. Cavanaugh who was the General Manager of WWCK in Flint, Michigan (the flagship station for the Radio Ranch).  I hope you’ll enjoy this site.

Thank you for taking time to find this site and for listening way back then.  If you’re new to Buffalo Dick, I hope you enjoy it.  I will be producing and posting some new segments from time to time, so please check in often.   Also I’ll have more CD’s, coming soon, of the original shows from 1980 and 1981.  I’d love to hear your feedback!
